The Associated Press is directly targeting consumers with a new
original Web series during the Winter Olympics.
Starting on Feb. 12 when the Winter Games kick off in Vancouver,
Canada, the news service will unveil a daily show titled "Beyond
the Medal," which will feature highlights from the Olympics. That
Web series, which will run through the conclusion of the games on
Feb. 28, will be hosted by Jesse Csincsak formerly of ABC's The
Bachelorette & MTV's Made.
The show will be distributed to over 900 partners, according to
officials, along with AP-produced news stories, event results,
video reports, photos and athlete profiles.
That content will also be accessible directly via the ad supported
property wintergames.ap.org. At that site, consumers can also sign
up for news alerts during the Olympics; or opt to embed content
from the site on their blogs or Facebook profiles. Click to see full story: http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_display/news/digital-downloads/broadband/e3i4b406c00b9c5b265457f08c0b6d745e9

The Associated Press has unveiled a dynamic multimedia
platform for its coverage of the 2010 Winter Games that will showcase
AP’s up-to-the-minute results, video reports, rich photos, athlete
profiles, authoritative stats and a daily Webcast from Vancouver called
“Beyond the Medal,” featuring snowboarder and reality TV personality
Jesse Csincsak & Co Host Lila Merideth
The AP-hosted and ad-supported platform, found at http://wintergames.ap.org
and on the Web sites of more than 900 AP member news organizations and
broadcasters, will feature the journalistic efforts of the largest
staff in Vancouver after the TV rights holder.
Users
can sign up for e-mail alerts. The “all media module” at the top of the
site, which includes AP news, photos and videos, can be embedded by
members or readers in their blogs, Facebook pages or Web sites. Users
can also enjoy the 16-by-9-inch format, a first for AP.
AP
journalists have covered every Olympics since the Games were revived in
1896. As the 2010 Winter Games unfold, from Feb. 12 to 28, AP sports
writers and other journalists will be providing text, video, radio,
online and mobile reports from Vancouver to the news cooperative’s
1,500 member newspapers in the U.S., its thousands of member broadcast
outlets and thousands of other customers worldwide.
"This
platform makes it incredibly easy for readers to find and enjoy
coverage of their favorite sports, their favorite athletes, and to
linger over incredible photographs from today's competitions and Games
in the past,” said AP Executive Editor Kathleen Carroll.
Mike Lutzky, the global director of AP sports products, said: “Our
Winter Games platform is an extension of the cooperative model, where
we expand from simply providing content to packaging that content for
the members’ benefit.”
The Web show “Beyond the Medal” will be updated throughout each day of
competition to include the latest Olympics results, athlete interviews
and segments about the social scene in Vancouver and Whistler, the ski
resort hosting cross-country, downhill and luge competition. Debuting
on Feb. 8, “Beyond the Medal” is cohosted by AP journalist Lila Ibrahim
and Jesse Csincsak, a professional snowboarder and reality TV
personality – who together will report and sample the action at and
away from the Olympics venues.
A preview of “Beyond the Medal” is here.
“Beyond
the Medal,” along with other video reports from the Olympics, will also
be available through AP’s Online Video Network. Launched in 2006, the
ad-supported OVN provides news videos to more than 2,000 newspaper,
broadcast and other media Web sites throughout the United States.
In
yet another display of AP’s expanding engagement with news audiences
through social media, its sports writers are maintaining a special
Winter Games Twitter feed, www.Twitter.com/AP_WinterGames, and a Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/APWinterGames.
“We're
excited to be using social networks to take readers behind the scenes,
to hear what they are interested in and to put them in touch with the
journalists who know so much about these sports and these Games,"
Carroll added.
AP Mobile’s news app, now downloaded on more than 3 million smart phones, is featuring a subcategory of AP’s Olympics stories.
AP
Radio will have three reporters at the Games to interview athletes,
provide actualities for AP member stations and do live and taped
reports for the network.

I want to Dedicate this article to (Christine Brennan) Who earlier in the week decided to RUN HER MOUTH (http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=9479741) about something that she had NO CLUE ABOUT !
Contact this Knuckle Head and let her know how you feel about this: http://www.facebook.com/cbrennansports http://www.christinebrennan.com http://www.twitter.com/cbrennansports http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=240255262381&ref=nf&v=info#/group.php?gid=240255262381&ref=mf
Christine - This is how news is done TAKE NOTES if you have figured out how to get your head outta your Ass ! With that being said ----
They propel themselves from the heights of
the halfpipe — flipping, spinning, hovering in the air, pulling off
tricks that often look one part painting, another part video game. Lost
is the reality that the halfpipe kids — with their long hair, baggy
clothes and flair for making it all look so easy — are putting their
lives on the line every time they drop into the pipe, as the recent
injury to Olympic hopeful Kevin Pearce illustrated. Pearce,
one of the world's best snowboarders, slammed his forehead on the side
of the halfpipe in practice Dec. 31, while working on one of the
sport's toughest tricks. He has been in a Salt Lake City hospital since
then with a brain injury, now in serious condition and on a long, slow
path toward recovery. "In my 18
years of snowboarding, I'd never seen an accident like that, and I hope
I never see another one like it again," said Kelly Clark, a 2002
Olympic gold medalist who will be in her third Olympics this year. Indeed,
most people in the sport viewed the Pearce accident as a fluke, and
there's a dearth of similar incidents that would suggest his injury was
part of a trend. In fact,
wearing patches that say "I ride 4 Kevin" on their gear, snowboarders
such as Pearce's friend, Danny Davis, came back to the next event and
amped up their difficulty. It was their way of paying tribute to their
friend, who will be on the minds of many over the upcoming month filled
with more Olympic qualifiers, the Winter X Games and the Olympics. But they concede it was scary seeing a comrade go down in that fashion. "You have to get past the fear and just throw out your passion," said Hannah Teter, the 2006 Olympic gold medalist. Halfpipe
skills, like those in almost every sport, are an ever-evolving,
envelope-pushing list of risks that riders must keep up with if they
want to remain among the elite. This year, American stars Shaun White
and Louie Vito are among those who will try back-to-back double-cork
jumps — a series of twists packed inside two flips — and the
conventional wisdom is the Olympic gold medalist will be the one who
best pulls off that stunt. Pearce was working on the double-cork when
he was injured. Also, the height
of the halfpipe, essentially a hollowed-out, 500-foot-long ice shell
with no top, has been raised by nearly 25 percent, to 22 feet, since
the last Olympics. Increasing
the difficulty of the tricks and the size of the walls obviously
increases the level of danger. Pearce's injury, however, isn't typical
of most halfpipe injuries. More often, concussions in this sport happen
when a rider slams the back of his head into the ice at the bottom of
the halfpipe after a misjudged jump. They
also suffer their share of broken legs, arms and dislocated shoulders —
all part of doing business in an X-Games world. And no different than
the injuries suffered by the athletes in the more traditional
discipline of Alpine skiing. "Everyone
out there knows it's an action sport, and there's an inherent risk
that's accepted by the athletes and coaches who participate," said
Jeremy Forster, program director for snowboarding at the U.S. Ski and
Snowboard Association. Riders
and coaches point to the independent spirit of the sport and say they
structure their training to keep things as safe as possible. Jake
Burton, one of snowboarding's godfathers, said the size of the halfpipe
walls were increased to 22 feet because that's what the riders wanted,
and "it's super important to listen to the riders and build what they
want." Helmets are a must in pro
snowboarding, and one benefit of that is the inevitable trickle-down
that comes when recreational riders want to emulate the people they
admire. A study released last year said 48 percent of U.S. skiers and
boarders wore helmets last ski season, compared with only 25 percent in
2002-03. Wearing a helmet, of course, does not guarantee safety. "Pro
riders take calculated risks, but they snowboard for a living and train
for these runs," Burton said. "If you talk to riders, they don't want
to stop trying new tricks just because there is risk involved." Unlike
freestyle skiing, which evolved slowly and, in some cases, even fought
some progress in the name of safety, snowboarding at the top levels has
most often advanced organically, with the riders — both on snowboards
and their summer counterparts, skateboards — the ultimate judges of
what's safe and what's not. They
practice hundreds of jumps off trampolines and into foam pits before
taking them out to the pipe. Likewise, they say they adhere to doctors'
orders when injuries come into play. "The
medical community dictates that," said Bud Keene, who coaches White and
now works as the developmental coach for USSA. "It's completely taken
out of our hands." When asked if
there were any clearly defined guidelines either for advancing with new
skills or for handling injuries, Keene deferred to Forster, who said
there were not. One doctor who
treats head injuries said he appreciates the cutting-edge nature of
snowboarding and other sports like it, but still think some concrete
guidelines would be appropriate. "The
Kevin Pearces of the world are developing new, unique moves that's
bringing the sport and its athleticism to a very different level," says
Dr. Gerard Gioia of the Children's National Medical Center, and
director of the Safe Concussion Outcome, Recovery and Education
program. "That's very admirable. But I think to suggest that it's OK
for there to be no guidelines would be misguided." On
the recreational side, the rate of snowboard injuries has increased
from 3.37 to nearly seven per 1,000 snowboarder visits in the past
decade. That could be attributed as much to an increase in the number
of less-skilled snowboarders — who have fed the growing popularity of
the sport — as to a referendum on what the pros are doing. "If
responsible parents want kids to take up the sport and the kids begin
to learn there are no rules, no guidelines, no understanding of safety
aspects, that's going to back people off, or should back people off,"
Gioia said of the parents. Which brings up the topic of snowboardcross — the halfpipe's more violent, unpredictable cousin. Introduced
to the Olympics four years ago, it's a four-person, downhill
free-for-all, over bumps, steep terrain and curves, where intentional
contact is illegal but "unintentional" bumping and jostling for
position is what makes the sport click. First person across the line
wins in these breakneck races, and quite often, not everyone crosses
the line on both feet. Two elite
level riders have died in that sport since it became a more widely
contested event in the past decade. American champion Lindsey
Jacobellis said she has suffered at least three "pretty good"
concussions over the past several years, including one that knocked her
out at the end of last season. "You
see legs shattered, knees blown, arms shattered, shoulders out of
joint," said defending Olympic snowboardcross champion Seth Wescott.
"Pretty much every trauma that can happen to the human body. It's hard
dealing with the fact that that's the reality of what your job is." That
is not, however, the story they tell on the halfpipe side, where broken
bones and mild concussions happen, but more severe injuries such as
Pearce's are uncommon. Keene, a coaching veteran of more than 20 years,
said there were no professional halfpipe deaths "that I'm aware of." He
doesn't think the Pearce injury will trigger any immediate changes in
the protocol. "It didn't have
anything to do with the double he was trying," Keene said. "Yes, it was
closer to the limit of his ability, which increases your chance of
failing. But that injury could've happened on any trick that's been
done in last 16 years." Click to see daily Facebook updates on Kevin: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Well-Wishes-to-our-Frend-Kevin-Pearce/232366118918?v=wall#/pages/Well-Wishes-to-our-Frend-Kevin-Pearce/232366118918?v=app_2347471856

Jesse Csincsak, made famous by “The
Bachelor,” is still making the television rounds — and this time, he's
taking his buddies with him.
Csincsak
and Breckenridge locals Jonathan Hershberger, Rob Catalano and Jeff
Meyer are in Wisconsin, about 45 minutes outside of Milwaukee, helping
a 17-year-old girl named Ashley live the snowboarding life.
Csincsak
first helped Tara Weldon a teen on MTV's “MADE” become a snowboarder on a show that
aired in mid-February, 2008. Breckenridge Ski Resort ski school
recommended him for the show, and at first MTV wanted a female coach,
but two months later, they chose Csincsak. He had 16 days on the snow
with her, spread over six weekends; this year, he can't disclose the
amount of time he has with Ashley, but Hershberger alluded to taking a
month off of work.
“Snowboarding ... is not just a sport, it's a
lifestyle,” Csincsak said, adding that he doesn't stay in touch with
high school friends, but the people he's met in the sport of
snowboarding have remained in his life.
“Between the four of us, there's no way she's not going to be an amazing shredder,” Csincsak said.
In
terms of the coaches' biggest challenges, it's simple: adjusting to the
flat lands of Wisconsin and “training somebody on a trash dump,”
Hershberger said, joking that Breckenridge Ski Area's halfpipe is
longer than the runs at Olympia.
But, they're doing the show because they believe in the premise of “MADE”: helping people achieve their dreams.
This
is the first time MTV's “MADE” features four coaches — all of whom have
greater control over how to coach the teen than ever before. The show
will air in late February or early March.
Csincsak will also
appear on “Beyond the Medal,” a lifestyle and entertainment show that
will be available online and possibly be broadcast. Csincsak and his
press manager Paul Colford are currently unable to provide further
details. Click here to see VIDEO of Behind the Scenes Footage:

“The Bachelor Pad”, a spin-off that will be kind of like ‘The Bachelor/ette Meets Big Brother’ is coming to TV in late August, MC’d by Chris Harrison. I wrote about the possibility back in August. Question: If Chris is the MC, will there also be a host and who will it be?
20 former contestants on the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows will live in a Big Brother type house for a large cash purse. One will be evicted each week.
No release of names yet, but I bet a bunch are in the photo above. And one is a certainty: Jesse Csincsak. It was, after all, his idea of a Bachelor Reunion show (The Bachelor All Stars) that got everyone thinking about it.
Some of my predictions: Natalie Getz, Robby D, Tanner Pope, Juan Barbieri, Jesse Kovacs, Nikki Kappke.
Who I doubt you’ll see: Wes, Melissa, Jason or Molly.
Question: Will Kiptyn and Reid be in? Jillian and Ed? No idea yet. Stay tuned. Click to see the full story: http://www.popleft.com/index.php/2010/01/12/abc-orders-up-the-bachelor-pad/

Nikki K, Suzie W, Jesse C, Kerry P, Katie S All Previous Contestants from the Show....
It's official. A Bachelor/ Bachelorette spin-off show is in the works, thanks to Mike Fleiss and his reality dating empire.
Bachelor Pad will invite 20 past contestants from various seasons of the popular reality show to live together in a house and compete, in the style of Big Brother.
The new ABC show (the network ordered 7 episodes) is expected to premiere by late summer, just after the conclusion of The Bachelorette, which is not yet in production.
Executive producer Martin Hilton explains the concept behind the show
as a simple one. “All these people have been friends, been enemies,
they date each other and bring all this great backstory to the show,”
he says. “It seemed like there was an opportunity to combine that world
with a new competitive reality show.”
Who will star on this series? Jesse Csincsak is a sure bet, since he proposed a similar concept, Bachelor All Stars, last fall. Hilton says top players and former winners are on board, though no names have been released.
Some of the show's competitions will be inspired by incidents from past
seasons, with each episode ending in one or more contestants being
evicted from the house.
One more familiar face will join the cast of Bachelor Pad; Bachelor host Chris Harrison has signed on to emcee.
The network has high hopes for this series, with the latest season of The Bachelor earning 15.5 million viewers for its season premier.
Will you watch Bachelor Pad? Who do you think should be on the show? I am Guessing alot of the cast for the Bachelor pad will be hand picked from the Bachelor Reunion in Breckenridge Colorado April 9th -11th 2010

Is there life after the Bachelor/Bachelorette? Apparently so, and
while for some it leads to bigger and better things, like Melissa
Rycroft who went on to Dancing With the Stars and Good Morning America, for others does it turn into “same as it ever was”…or worse?
Deanna Pappas, who was my favorite Bachelorette at the time, chose Colorado snowboarder Jesse Csincsak
during her season, then dumped him. She moved to LA, went on to host a
cable show about weddings based in Atlanta , was on TV some more as a
commentator during Jason and then Jillian’s season, but hasn’t had much
of a high profile the past few months — other than for dating the twin
brother of one of Jillian’s rejected contestants.
Did she move back to her native Georgia and return to selling real estate? Hardly. According to E!, she’s still in L.A., and Shes bar tending. (She was a bartender in Georgia back in college.) The place: The Tea Room at H.wood.
So, is it a step down from the Bachelorette to bartending? I don’t think so, here’s why.
Deanna has always wanted to get married and loved the glitz and
glam. The bar she’s pouring drinks for is frequented by some pretty big
stars, from Leonard DiCaprio
to Adam Lambert, Kate Perry, and more. Although she’s currently dating
someone, that could change, and this would be a great way for her to
meet, and maybe even fall in love with a rich and sexy guy.
And it’s certainly not a full-time job. The place is only open on Wed nights. To me, it sounds like it’s meant to be a fun job — hardly a drop in “life station.”
As for what Jesse’s been up to, he’s got a TV co-hosting gig during the Olympics coming up, for the AP show, Beyond the Medal. You can watch a segment here. He’ll be filming another episode of MTV MADE
where he teaches someone to snowboard. He also continues to appear at
charity events to raise money for various groups, and hold reunions
with former Bach/ette contestants. His home base is still Breckenridge.
So Deanna seems intent on bright lights, big city, having fun and
star-power. Jesse has been quietly building his fan base on Facebook
and Twitter and working hard to turn his snowboarding creds into a
sports media career, while carefully crafting a wholesome image. In this
sense, for Deanna, it’s same as it ever was. For Jesse, he’s way ahead
of where he started before the Bachelorette, and while he’s not a
rocket like Melissa, I think he’s on his way. Click to see the full story: http://www.popleft.com/index.php/2010/01/08/its-back-to-bartending-for-this-former-bachelorette/#more-1027
